"Who that has reason, and his smell, would not among the roses and jasmine dwell." Abraham Cowley

I love gift giving, and more than anything else I love to give my friends and family thoughtful, handmade gifts. They are easy to personalize and come with a sentiment that is hard to replicate in the store-bought.

A few weeks ago, I came across a gift idea - a perfume locket scented with essential oils. Are you kidding me? I cannot think of anything sweeter and what a perfect gift to give that loved one who has everything.

As I explored the idea more, my mind filled with all kinds of potential scent combinations like Jasmine/vanilla/lavender, vanilla/rose and lavender/vetiver/pachouli. The possibilities seemed endless and so fun to dream up. I decided to go with equal parts jasmine/vanilla/lavendar, and it didn't disappoint. It smells amazing!

As far as lockets, I found mine on Etsy. I just did a search and all kinds pretties popped up. Another option would be to check thrift stores and antique shops. Or you could forgo the locket all together an opt for a pretty tin or glass jar.

Here's what you need:

  • 2 teaspoons natural beeswax pellets or grated beeswax
  • 1 tablespoon jojoba, almond or coconut oil
  • 60 drops essential oils (You can use any combination you like or stick to a single oil. Pinterest is a great source for flavor combinations.)
  • 3-4 lockets (If you only have one locket, you can pour the remaining perfume into a small tin)

Melt your beeswax in a double broiler. Add oil and stir until well blended. Remove from heat and allow to cool ever so slightly so as to keep the integrity of the essential oils. Add essential oils and mix well. Pour into lockets and cool.
